Description
Paul Koli(1945) is an Indian artist, art educator and a master printmaker. He obtained diploma in Drawing and Painting from the Sir J. J. School of Art where he studied under V. B Parab and V. M. Sholapurkar and later joined as a Lecturer of Graphics Art in 1970. Paul was introduced to Krishna Reddy’s viscosity prints at a workshop organised at the J J School of art which inspired Paul to work in the medium and create a body of works in the viscosity technique.
“I came upon Krishna Reddy’s prints which were a challenge to all. His prints possessed me so much that i took Graphics seriously and started searching for solutions. My problem was solved to some extent by Paul Lingren, yet the whole thing was a mystery.
I am greatly possessed by movements, both at the subconscious and unconscious levels of mind-influencing unconsciously in composition and subconsciously in technique.”- Paul Koli
Paul has held numerous solo exhibitions and has been a part of several group shows in Delhi, Pune, Baroda, Mumbai, Chennai, Goa, Kolkata, Kathmandu and Algeria.
