The Bombay School of painting, a style developed by the students of the J J School of Art soon after it was established in 1857.The students achieved proficiency in academic realism and their style is marked by perfect rendering, bold strokes and the use of transparent watercolours.
R C Dhage was a Bombay based artist who was also a lawyer by profession. He specialised in painting Indian rural landscapes in his unique expressonistic style.He participated regularly in Bombay Art Society exhibitions.
