Description

Maqbool Fida Husain(1915 – 2011)was an Indian artist known for executing bold, vibrantly coloured narrative paintings in a modified Cubist style. He was one of the most celebrated and internationally recognised Indian artists of the 20th century. M.F. Husain is associated with Indian modernism in the 1940s. He was one of the founding members of Bombay Progressive Artists' Group. His themes include topics as diverse as Gandhi, Mother Teresa, the Ramayana, the Mahabharata, the British Raj, and motifs of Indian urban and rural life. During the course of his career, Husain also tried his hand at printmaking, photography and filmmaking.

Executed circa 1970's,the artwork is a rare lithograph by Husain. While later he did serigraphs in higher edition numbers and in a wide variety of themes, his lithographs are sought today for their fewer editions and limited number of subjects.
