Description
R M Palaniappan was in born in Devakottai, Tamil Nadu. He studied in the government College of Arts and Crafts, Chennai and did his advanced Lithography in Tamarind Institute (USA) in 1991. He has showcased his works in solo and group exhibitions in India and abroad. He has received many prestigious awards including two awards from the State Akademi, two international awards for his prints in Taipei and Bhopal and a National Award. His works feature in several collections, including the National Museum, New Delhi, Victoria & Albert Museum, British Museum, London, U.S. Library of Congress, Washington, Taipei Museum of Fine Arts, Taiwan and Oxford University. He has participated in international print and graphic workshops and also curated shows on invitation, the most important one being “Major Trends in Indian Art” (1997) to commemorate 50 years of India’s independence organised by Lalit Kala Akademi. He was the Regional Secretary of the Lalit Kala Akademi, Chennai, and also Commissioner for Bharat Bhavan Prints Biennale. Palaniappan lives and works in Chennai.
