Circa 1920's

Description

A stunning seated portrait of an anonymous Parsi lady, attributable to the studio of the artist photographer Jehangir Taraporevala. He had acquired the studio of Shapur Bhedwar circa 1910. His photographs were developed in high quality platinum prints and he was popular among the affluent Parsi community. His studio's motto was “Keep smiling, the rest will be looked after by Tarapore”.

The Victorian style bench on which the lady is seated, is a studio prop used widely in Tarapore and Shapur Bhedwar studio portraits. One such portrait of a lady seated in a similar pose, by Tarapore Studios, is attached for reference.
